Progressive Engineering took over as the lead engineering consultant for the Discovery Ridge development in West Calgary, in March 2001, completing all ten phases by 2004.
Discovery Ridge is an exclusive residential development, located adjacent to the Elbow River, offering views of the spectacular Rocky Mountains and Elbow Valley. A significant portion of the over 630 acre site has been designated as parkland and environmental reserve, including Griffith Woods Park a 250 acre park bordering the Elbow River and Tsu T`ina Nation.
Development of Discovery Ridge posed many challenges, including the environmentally sensitive nature of the area, the need to accommodate large utlities through the site, high water table, a major sanitary lift station, a water pressure reduction station and development of the floodplain which required a significant volume of earth moving.
