West Midnapore Pond

The West Midnapore stormwater pond has a co-operative effort between several Developers. The 20 acre pond provides service for a large catchment area at the south edge of the City.

Progressive Engineering personnel were involved in the project from the planning stage through to final FAC.

The most cost effective design for the pond and mile long outfall required an automated weir. This was a unique design feature for Calgary, and resulted in a major cost saving for the project.

Another significant cost saving was achieved at FAC. A floating dredge was used to remove sediments a fraction of the cost of conventional excavation.
