Progressive has undertaken preliminary design and conceptual design development by civil engineering and site landscaping for an extensive surface stormwater management system for the future new community of Providence in Calgary's southwest.
Designs incorporate stormwater control at the source through bioswales and rain gardens in residential front yard and rear yard bioswales, boulevards, park municipal reserve raingardens and wetland development.
This project presents unique challenges for Low Impact Development as the high clay sub-soils prevent infiltration. The designs therefore focus on evaporation, evapotranspiration, sedimentation, passive irrigation and water purification.
